Get to know Pepper Money
25 years ago, we set out on a mission, to help people get a home loan when they’d been told there was no help. It was life changing work, and it made us determined to help as many people as we could in as many ways as we could.
Since then, we’ve become one of the largest, most trusted, and award-winning non-bank lenders in Australia and New Zealand, with a lot of really helpful loan options.

Our mission
To help people succeed!
The home of loan options
Over our 25 years we’ve helped over 530,3041 Australians succeed with our ever-expanding range of loan options.

What's a non-bank lender?
Wondering exactly what a non-bank lender is? Put simply, we're a regulated lender that isn't a bank. The main difference? Banks take deposits, we don’t. This means our loans aren't funded by our customers’ money. They’re funded through what are called ‘debt capital markets’ – that’s marketplaces for money that people want to invest in lending.
The way you can tell how a non-bank is seen by the markets they operate in is in their Loan Servicer ratings. We’re proud to say that we’ve had a top ranked 'Strong' Residential Loan Servicer rating since January 2012 and we’re included on S&P’s Global Select Servicer List. And more recently, in May 2021, we listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). So, everything we do is regulated and transparent. Find out who regulates non-banks.

Caring about our planet
We recognise the importance of making meaningful changes to how we operate, with the goal of reducing our environmental impact. We're also committed to helping our customers do the same by offering finance for the construction, modification, or purchase of energy-efficient homes and clean transportation options.

Making a real difference in the community
We partner with community-based organisations to help them to succeed at what they do. We’re proud to support StreetSmart, who tackle homelessness by funding grassroots initiatives that help people find and keep a safe home. We’ve also worked with Women’s and Girls Emergency Centre (WAGEC), supporting women and children facing homelessness and domestic violence, and Panthers on the Prowl, providing mentorship and opportunities for young people in Western Sydney. Our really helpful team support these programs through use of their annual volunteer day leave where they help with facilities maintenance or actively support those in need.
Our sponsorships always align to our company values and the teams we partner with play an active role in supporting their communities. That’s why we’re the Major Partner of the Wests Tigers NRL and NRLW teams and as part of that, support their 'Healthy Relationships' community program. In the past, we were the Co-Principal Club and Community Partner of St Kilda Football Club. Like many of our customers, we really love our sport.

Are you a can do, balanced person who keeps things real?
Us too! We’re always on the lookout for talented people who embody our core values of can-do, balanced and real. Our values are the foundation of how we deliver on our promise to help. Our teams seem to like it, with an employee engagement score of 75 in 2024 our people told us they believe in our purpose, understand how they contribute to our success and feel they can be themselves at work. We are all about helping our people succeed.

Non-banking, like banking, is really well regulated.
There are a group of agencies covering both banking and non-bank financial institutions that together work to make sure that Australia's financial system operates efficiently, transparently and securely.
Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA)
APRA is Australia's prudential supervisor, responsible for making sure that the financial system is stable, competitive, and efficient. APRA is independent and is accountable to the Australian Parliament. It supervises a broad range of financial institutions, including:
- Banks
- Non-banks
- Credit unions
- Building societies
- Insurers
- Superannuation funds
Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
ASIC is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services, and consumer credit regulator. It oversees:
- Financial markets
- Investment schemes
- Financial advisers
- Consumer credit providers
ASIC plays a crucial role in regulating non-bank financial services, ensuring transparency, fairness, and consumer protection.
ASIC also oversees the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), who is an independent and free dispute resolution scheme that consumers can escalate their concerns to if they have a problem with their financial services provider.
Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC)
AUSTRAC is Australia's financial intelligence unit and anti-money laundering regulator. It monitors financial transactions to identify and prevent money laundering, terrorism financing, and other serious financial crimes. AUSTRAC covers both banks and non-banks.
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)
The ACCC is responsible for promoting competition and fair trading in markets to benefit consumers, businesses, and the community. While not a primary financial regulator, the ACCC's role crosses with financial services in areas like:
- Consumer protection
- Product pricing
- Anti-competitive conduct
The ACCC collaborates with other financial regulators to address issues affecting consumers in the financial sector.
Council of Financial Regulators (CFR)
The CFR is the coordinating body for Australia's main financial regulatory agencies. It includes:
- Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA)
- Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
- Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA)
- The Treasury
While the CFR itself does not have regulatory or policy decision-making powers, it supports cooperation and coordination amongst its members to promote stability and effectiveness of the financial system.
